Stella Lou McCord

Our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother was born on January 28, 1926, in Locust Grove Ga, to the late Tommie Lee Vandigriff and Myrtis Wise Vandigriff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adell McCord Sr; her children Marsha McCord, Barbara Jean McCord Dewberry and Adell McCord Jr.; her sisters, Arlinda Vandigriff and Shirley Ann Gay; brothers Henry Lee Vandigriff, Alfonzo Miller and Alvin Miller. She joined Unity Grove Baptist Church at an early age where she remained faithful until her health failed. She loved her church and her church family. She was an active mother while serving on the motherboard as well as singing in the Senior Choir. She was educated through the Henry County School System. She rarely worked outside of her home, she was a loving and devoted wife, fulltime housewife, and mother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren whom she helped raise. She also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves with her husband. Mother McCord was known for her style of dressing, her unique collection of hats, and let’s not forget her red lipstick. She had a heart of passion; she loved it when all her children came together for family gatherings. Her contagious smile and laughter could light up any room she entered, with her sassy and witty sense of humor.
