Dr. Maritane Olibrun Demosthene

Doctor Maritane Oliburn Demosthene was born on March 4, 1976 in Port-de Paix, Haiti, the proud twin daughter of the late Lasenie Arianne Olibrun and Arnold Thermonfils Olibrun. Maritane was every parent’s dreams. She was a wonderful twin sister to Mariane Olibrun and when you saw Maritane, you were guaranteed to find Mariane. They spent their time playing and sometime doing fun mischief like switching places. Maritane enjoyed laughing and spending time with her family. She was full of maternal instincts. After her mother passed in June 1999, she dotted on her little sister Marie-Violence Mertilus and little brother Ronald Olibrun. She knew exactly what to say to make you laugh. She loved baking cakes as her special way to encourage her siblings. Her childhood was full of excitement. As a child, Maritane was a natural learner who lived life to the fullest. During her childhood years, she learned to play the piano. She enjoyed singing and performing at church and in her local community. Maritane loved to dance; she was a member of her high school majorette team. Maritane was extremely adept in math and science and attended Leslie Docteur High School in Haiti where she continued to excel in her studies. In 1995, Maritane moved to Miami, Florida, in the United States. She moved from Miami to Orlando and met her high school sweetheart Monod in 1996. Maritane graduated from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida in 1997. Maritane was steadfast in accomplishing her goal to become a doctor and embarked on a journey to begin her medical studies while in Orlando, Florida. She graduated from City College with an Associates of Allied Health in 1999. After five years of courtship, Monod and Maritane professed their love in the presence of God and their family in 2001. Maritane and Monod moved to Florence, South Carolina after Maritane received a full scholarship to study at Francis Marion University. In 2004, she graduated from Francis Marion with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Later, Monod and Maritane moved to the Island of Sint Eustatius so she could continue medical studies. In 2008, she received her Phlebotomy certificate from Sint Eustasius University Medical. Maritane received a Master of Health Care Administration from Kaplan University in 2012. In June 2014, Maritane O. Demosthene was awarded her Doctor of Medicine degree and became Dr. Maritane O. Demosthene. God in his infinite wisdom knows that two are better than one and in 2006, God blessed Monod and Maritane with a beautiful daughter, Makaila Lasenie Demosthene. Maritane was a loving and dedicated wife. She loved Monod very much and affectionately called him Cheri, meaning honey. Monod and Maritane really complimented each other and supported each other’s dreams and goals. Maritane received her medical degree while being a dedicated wife, mother and worker due to Monod’s unwavering support.
