Derek Pullin

Derek Lee Pullin was born July 29, 1958, to the late Ralph and Tillie Lee Pullin in Griffin, GA. He was one of eight children Mary Elizabeth, Ralph Jr, Larry, Melvin, and Dianne, all preceded him in death. Derek was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in McDonough, GA, this is where he gave his life to Christ at a young age. He believed that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and he should give him all the honor and glory. Derek known to everyone as "Butch" was raised in McDonough, GA and graduated from Henry County High School. He was an excellent football player, and the football field was his second home. He loved the game with all his heart and never missed a game on Sunday. He was a season ticket holder for the Atlanta Falcons and the tailgate king. He never met a stranger and loved to laugh and have fun. Everyone knew if he was having an event you were going to enjoy yourself. Derek enlisted in the United States Army after graduating high school in 1976. He was deployed to Frankfurt, Germany where he lived for 3 years. After his tour of duty, he returned to the United States and was stationed in Kentucky. During his time in the military, he acquired education and training to become a Power Generation and Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. Derek received from the United States Army an honorable discharge in 1980. Derek worked for Beam Oil after the military as a truck driver and then in 1985 he opened a restaurant/Club "Mr. Dee's" in McDonough, GA here you could find good food and a good time. He retired and thought he could sit still but he went back to work for the Henry County School System as the Head Custodian of McDonough Middle School and retired in 2020 after 20 years of service. On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, GOD called his son home. He leaves to mourn his passing children, Korenda Williams (Gofareo); step-children, Aretha Lymon, Reneisha Stegall, Jacques Boles, Rodzerius Boles. Grandchildren, Titus Williams, Raven Duffy, Tee-Tee Duffy, Amber Turner, Ashley Holly, Dejon Lymon, GiHann Lymon, Stacie Boles, Jahmal Moore Jr, Kailani Ward, Mekhi Boles. Sisters: Anita Watkins, Sandrae Spencer (Michael), sister/niece Velma Pullin, close friends Elaine Pullin, Regina Hill, and James Cleveland, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
