A time to be born...Willie (Bill) was born November 2, 1937 to the late Woodfin and Doris Watkins. Bill was one of seven children: Nannie Bell (deceased), Walter (deceased), Nadine, Mildred, Woodfin (Big Hoot) (deceased), and Vivian. A time to laugh...Bill was raised in the Locust Grove community, where he enjoyed and appreciated the love and joy of family and many friends. A time to learn...Bill received his education through the former Shoal Creek Elementary and Henry County Training School. He was drum major for the school band. Bill learned about the love of Jesus during the early years of his life and gave his life to Christ at Bethlehem Baptist Church. His mission and passion in life was helping people needing help because of life and circumstances. A time to serve...Bill worked with food ministries and organizations to help families in need. He repaired washing machines and dryers to give to people who needed them. His love for people in need will always be remembered by those he helped. A time to love...On December 23, 1962, he married Anita Louise Pullin. This union was blessed with two children, Donald and David. A time to work...Bill was a machine shop foreman, and retired from Snapper Power Equipment Company in 1996. A time to mourn...On Friday, April 17, 2020, our beloved Bill Watkins quietly and peacefully answered the call to end all earthly labor and enter his new home in Glory. He will be cherished by many family members and loved ones who will continue to keep his memory in their hearts. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving, devoted wife, Anita; children: Terry Hammond (Stephanie), Donald Watkins (Lisa) and David Watkins (Angela); eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters: Nadine Pope (Johnny), Mildred Talley, and Vivian Johnson (Otis), and a host of family members.
