Rev. O. D. Tyler

February 25, 1930 - June 6, 2020

Rev. O. D. (Odell) Tyler was born to Grady and Liney Tyler, the oldest son of 12 Tyler children and grew up in the Ola Community. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was Pastor of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church for more than 50 years and served as Vice Moderator and then later, Moderator for the New Macedonia Jr. Baptist Association. God worked mightily through him both in the church and in the Ola/McDonough community. Pastor Tyler transitioned peacefully on June 6, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian McKnight Tyler, two children Timothy Adell Tyler and Regina Odell Tyler, as well as grandson, Keith Anton Tyler. Also preceding him in death were eight siblings – Curtis, Marion, Lucy, Mary, Lily, Annie Ruth, Willie Mae, and Billy. He is survived by children – Jeanette Waldon, Deborah (Dee-Dee) Tyler, Dorothy Elaine Porter (John) and Anthony Tyler (Jacqueline); siblings – Elmer, Daisy, and Joseph; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
