Ponder, also known as Reggie, was born to Randall Deladio Ponder and Agnes Louise Maxey Ponder in Athens, Georgia on April 12, 1962. He graduated from Henry County High School in 1980. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force achieving the ranking of Sergeant. He received numerous recognitions and honors that included the Air Force Training Ribbon, Longevity Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Achievement Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (rifle), and AirForce Outstanding Unit Award. He went on to earn his Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1990. As an advocate for continuing education, he received two Master’s degrees: Masters in Management, Production Operations from Southern Polytechnic State University in 1998; Master of Business Administration (MBA) Information Technology Management from Kennesaw State University in 2016. He was also a proud co-founder of Ponder Business Services which he started with his wife, Lorane. He was a visionary in Information Technology and enjoyed being able to connect the dots in his work. He joined Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at a young age and was an active member in several committees such as the Veteran’s Ministry, United Methodist Men, and Finance Committee. He knew the Lord and encouraged everyone to know Him for themselves. Reggie was always committed to helping the fellow person in need. His commitment to service was demonstrated through his church and in the community. Reggie worked with local veteran organizations, children with disabilities and homeless shelters distributing and collecting food and clothing. Often you could find him in the community giving his time to support those young boys and girls in public housing with adapting basic life skills and etiquette. He is survived by his life partner Lorane Ponder; five children, Raven D. Ponder, Rinna D. Burns (Kory), Reyla D. Ponder, Reginald D. Ponder II, and Ashley J. Bernard; two grandchildren, Kaiden and Korrinna Burns; two brothers, Randall D. Ponder II (Terryolyn); Roderick D. Ponder I, nephews, Denard Ponder, Rashad Ponder, Randall “Tre” Ponder and Remington Ponder; uncle Galvin; aunts Clara Wright (Calvin), Aisha Lumumba (Chinyelu), Cynthia Laster; four sisters-in-law, Bobby Burnett, Pauline Connelly, Billy Kelly, and Robbie Fleming, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
