The daughter of the late Otis “Papa “and Lillie “Mo Lillie” Reid. On Sunday, December 12, 2021, Mary Francis (Aunt Sis), peacefully departed this life while sleeping at her residence. Mary grew up in Georgia and attended Hampton Public Schools where she graduated high school in 1953. Later Mary moved to Washington D.C., where she met her Marine and life partner Richard F Brown Sr. They were married on November 12, 1962. Their union lasted 59 years until her passing. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, taking care of her family as well as providing care for extended family and her mother. From those experiences she became a Certified Nurse Assistant. She worked in this capacity for 15 years until her retirement in 2017. Mary started her walk with Christ at an early age and became a member of Wardell Methodist Church. As she and her family moved, she established a strong foundation in the church community. She enjoyed reading and learning from her Bible. She drew strength from her faith and devotion to God. One of the most exciting moments in her life was the Holy Land Tour in Israel. This was her trip to end all trips. So, in 2009 with her sister and “bestie” Aunt Flo, and niece Barbara, they went off to walk the path Jesus walked. It was such a blessing to see her live and fulfill one of her dreams. Mary leaves a strong legacy to carry on and cherish her memories; her husband Richard F Brown Sr.; sons, Raymond Brown, Richard (Cheryl) F. Brown, Jr., Ronald (Lashawnda) Brown, and Randal Brown; daughters, Terri, Melinda (deceased) and MaryAnn Brown. Fifteen Grandchildren, Richard Eugene Brown, Stephawn Delmar Brown, David Alexander Brown, LaRon Christopher Brown, Rayshawn Anthony Brown (deceased), Ashley Renee Brown, Kayla Nicole Brown, Serena Rae Brown, Randal Glen Brown II (deceased), Ravon Montrell Brown, Raven Diane Brown, Ryan Anthony Brown, Anthony Cameron Brown, Krista Melinda Brown, Legend Amir Brown; Seven Great-grandchildren; Riley Lynn Brown, Naomi Nicole Villagomez, Preston Leo Brown, Harrison Phoenix Brown, Remi S. Brown, Aaryah Moore, Rori London Brown; and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
