Marjorie Burnett

January 10, 1934 - March 7, 2022

Marjorie Burnett, daughter of Mr. Willie Stevens and Magnolia Ingram, was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Opelika, Alabama and entered eternal rest March 7, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, Otis Calvin Burnett, after 52 years of holy matrimony. This union led to the births of their five beautiful children. Shortly after moving to Connecticut in the early 60's, she began working at Winchester Repeating Arms for over 35 years. She also attended IMmanuel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. When Marjorie wasn't busy with motherhood, she spent a lot of her time baking and started attending Greater Thankful Baptist Church after relocating to Alabama. She was the president of the Missionary Society and she loved tov volunteer with the Sunbeam Crusaders, flower ministry, dining committee, praise team, and the welcome committee. Marjorie was known for her delicious pound cake recipe, but many loved her wedding and German Chocolate cakes, equally. Her kindhearted spirit led her to also work as a home aide for several years after until she began to have health challenges - in which led her to moving to McDonough GA with her family and her loving daughter/caretaker Sharon during the last five years of her life. She is survived by her children Otis C. Burnett Jr. (Clarice) of East New Haven, CT, Sharon Davis of McDonough, GA, Felicia Clinton of Stockbridge, GA, Terri Burnett of Anniston, AL, and Portia Bachelor of Ansonia, CT; 23 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She leaves her sister Maxine Shelton of Dallas, TX and two brothers: Lindsey Ingram of Opelika, AL, and Charlie. Marjorie will be remembered as a loving, compassionate, kind, and giving human being, One who loved to laugh and loved her family and friends. She built long lasting bonds with the people she loved and with her soft spoken voice, and Her gentle mannerisms, she reminded us how to treat one another. You could always count on Marjorie. Now she can rest pain free and peacefully reside with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
