September 15, 1938 - November 25, 2020
God delivered Sis. (Lois) Lucy Elizabeth McMichael Cherry to the late Mattie Lois Woodard McMichael Holland and the late Willie Dorsey McMichael on the 15th day of September, 1938, in McDonough, Georgia. She was the third born of four children. Sis. (Lois) Lucy was a graduate of Henry County Training School, McDonough, GA. For several years after high school, she worked as a home care provider in Atlanta, GA. On June 11th, in the year of 1966, Sis. (Lois) Lucy united her life, before Christ, to the late Aaron Zachary (AZ) Cherry, Sr. To this union, they were blessed with one son and three daughters. She later became employed at McDonough Power Equipment & Snapper. After thirty years of dedicated service, she retired in July of 2004. During her early childhood, Sis. (Lois) Lucy joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia. She confessed her life to Christ and developed a forever lasting relationship with Him. As a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, she loved attending Bible Study, Sunday School, and worship services with her family. For several years, she served faithfully at Bethlehem Baptist as treasurer of the Ushers’ Ministry and as a member of the Kitchen Ministry. Sis. (Lois) Lucy was also an active member of the Heroines of Jericho #161 and the Order of Eastern Star #63. On the 25th day of November, 2020, Sis. (Lois) Lucy traveled down a very peaceful road where Christ was awaiting her at the end of her life’s journey with open arms to come and rest with Him forever. Sis. (Lois) Lucy will be remembered in so many ways. She was a classy lady with a classy style and a beautiful smile. She was assertive and always advocated for her family and issues that were near and dear to her heart. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers, spending time with her family, and baking her favorite desserts. She was well known and sought after for her signature Sweet Potato Cake. Sis. (Lois) Lucy has not left us, for she will live on forever within our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Dorsey McMichael and Mattie Lois Holland; her beloved husband, Aaron (AZ) Cherry, Sr.; and her brothers, Willie Frank McMichael and Robert Holland. Sis. (Lois) Lucy leaves to cherish her memory four children: Tina Cherry, Tracey Allen (Aveory), Aaron Z. Cherry, Jr., and Dana Jarrells (Cory); one sister, Gladys McMichael Rosser; one sister-in-law, Marion Miller (A.W.); seven grandchildren, Alexander, Bralin, Austun, Adasia, Ryanne, Jory, and Haleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
