August 18, 1935 - April 25, 2021
Today we have paused to pay tribute to the memory of Sis. Gladys McMichael Rosser, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend. On Sunday, April 25, 2021, Sis. Gladys was summoned by the Lord from her earthly home in Locust Grove, Georgia. Sis. Gladys was the second child born to the late Mattie Lois Woodard McMichael Holland and the late Willie Dorsey McMichael on the 18th day of August 1935, in Locust Grove, Georgia. Early in life, Sis. Gladys accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She served faithfully in various capacities within the church including singing in the choir, serving on the ushers’ board, and fellowshipping with the Women’s Ministry. She also enjoyed singing with the Henry County Community Mass Choir. Additionally, Sis. Gladys was an active member of the Heroines of Jericho #161 and the Order of Eastern Star #63. Sis. Gladys was a graduate of Henry County Training School, McDonough, GA. For several years after high school, she worked as a home care provider in Locust Grove, GA. She was later employed at Smead Corporation (1978) and retired after 27 years of service. On July 16, in the year of 1960, Sis. Gladys united her life, before Christ, to the late Lay Chester Rosser, Sr. To this union, they were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Sis. Gladys loved life and she loved spending time with her family. She spent her summers travelling all over the nation with the Sassy Ladies Traveling Club transported by Diamond Tours Incorporated. With an infectious smile, Sis. Gladys never met a stranger; she was a social butterfly who enjoyed the company of all age groups. Sis. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Dorsey McMichael and Mattie Lois Holland, her beloved husband, Lay Chester Rosser, Sr.; her faithful sister, (Lois) Lucy McMichael Cherry; her brothers, Willie Frank McMichael and Robert Holland; and her daughter-in-law, Marjory Joanem Rosser. Sis. Gladys will be cherished in memory and sorely missed by those who loved her and by those whose lives she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory four children: Lay Chester Rosser, Jr. (Adrian), Michael Rosser, Felix Rosser, and Audrey Rosser Thomas (Frederick), four sisters-in-law, Doris Rosser Willis, Helen Rosser, Viola Rosser, and Darlene Holland; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Michael and Kendall; a dear friend, Deidre Crowder; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
