Dianne Woods Banks

May 14, 1949 - July 1, 2019

McDonough Chapel Dianne Woods Banks was born to the late Lillie Mae Woods and the late William Henry Woods on May 14, 1949 in Stockbridge, GA. Dianne was one of 8 children, 2 of which preceded her in eternal rest – Vera Waller and Shirley Marie Allen. Dianne Woods Banks was raised at Hilltop Church in Joyland. Her grandmother, Ollie Woods, faithfully took her to church services. Hilltop Church is where the beginning of her knowledge of Jesus Christ was born; she accepted Christ very early in her life. As a young adult she moved to Denver, Colorado and started attending Living Waters Tabernacle, whereher relationship with the Lord grew tremendously. She lived each day with Christ in her heart and trumpeted God’s Word to all around her. She later became a devoted member and ordained minister of New Covenant Metropolitan Ministries in Ellenwood, GA. Dianne graduated from Henry McNeal Turner High School in 1967; she continued her education at Denver Women’s College and Kaplan University. She began her professional career as a flight attendant for United Airlines and retired after 30 plus years. Following her retirement from the airlines, she became an educator for 15 years, working as an elementary school teacher at Greenforest Christian School and various schools throughout the DeKalb County Public School System. Dianne was a member of the Turner High School Alumni Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Ladies of Literacy, and Isagenix. Dianne was adventurous, loved family game nights, and appreciated a good book, a good joke and a good game of Scrabble! Dianne is survived by her children: Everett R. Banks (Laphanie), Reginald Banks, Evelyn Summer Ike (Obiorah), Alexis Wright (Kendrick), and Wendy Banks-Bivins (Akili), and 10 grandchildren: Ian, Rene, Shakira, William, Emaria, Charleston, Everett T., Kaidan, Kaison, and McKenzie. Dianne is also survived by Everett W. Banks, her sisters: Atlena Carter, ValissaAycock, Joyce Harbert, MayviceCanty and Kimberly Woods, three aunts: Cora Mitchell, Emma Preston and Eloise Clemons, and two uncles: Curtis Woods and Monroe James.
