McDonough Chapel Mrs. Bessie Chappell was born June 8, 1925 in Dublin, Ga. to the late Mr. E.D. Hill and the late Ella Jane Hill. On the evening of February 21, 2019 GOD called her home to serve alongside of him. She moved to Atlanta, Ga. in 1946 where she met the love of her life Mr. Cleveland Chappell, her husband of 58 years and to this union, eight children were born. She lived her life loving God and ministering to everyone she came in contact with speaking of God’s word. In 1959, She became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Stockbridge, Ga. where she served on the Mother’s Board for many years until she moved her membership to Mt. Zion Baptist Church located in Jeffersonville, Ga.. Mrs. Bessie received her education in Dublin, Ga. She worked for Mayflower Company, Westbury Nursing Home, and alongside her husband, with his business , Chappell Landscaping and Gardening until she became an at home mother taking care of her children. Mrs. Bessie is preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Chappell, her daughter, Annie Chappell, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories 7 children, Joann Brownlee, Olivia McRae, Calvert Chappell Sr. (Francis), Barbara Hudson, Regina Chappell, Rosie Calhoun (Chris), Karen Chappell; the 3 grandchildren she raised, Diane Chappell, Stevenson Chappell (Gloria Tyler), and Perryale Chappell (Okesia); 3 sisters, Ms. Flora Watkins of Atlanta, Ga., Ms. Clarie(Sally Mae) Watkins of New York, Ms. Marie Hill of Atlanta, Ga.; 27 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; 1 God granddaughter Tamika McCollum, 4 sisters in law, and 3 brothers in law of Atlanta, Ga.
