Wynonia Hambrick Williams

Wynonia Hambrick Williams (Nonia) was born on June 18, 1955 to the late Lenton and Annie Louise Hambrick. She was the seventh of seven children. One brother preceded her in death, Ray Lambert Hambrick, Sr. and one sister, Glenda Ann Hambrick Tanner (Nonda). From a previous union, two children were born: Tramon and Tiyon Rayner. Later in life, Wynonia married Walter L. Williams, Sr. (Walt). Wynonia was educated through the Henry County School System and later studied computers at a local college. For twenty-five years, Wynonia was a dedicated employee at Kawneer (Alcoa Company). She later began working for the City of Stockbridge at City Hall, where she served faithfully for ten years as a Utility Billing Clerk and this was her current place of employment before her diagnosis. Wynonia joined Floyd Chapel Baptist Church at an early age where she was a faithful member, and later joined the congregation of Red Oak United Methodist Church. At Red Oak, she enthusiastically and willingly served as a Sunday School teacher in the past, and recently worked diligently with the United Methodist Women and the Women’s Usher Ministry. Wynonia went to sleep on November 12, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband for 30 years: Walter L. Williams, Sr. (Walt); her two children: Tramon Rayner and Tiyon Rayner (Brandi); eight wonderful grandchildren: Collyn Rayner, Tanasia Rayner, Isaiah Rayner, Kamryn Rayner, Jordan Rayner, Lauryn Rayner, Ariel Rayner, and Kendall Cochran; three step-children: Walter L. Williams, Jr., Keisha Henley (Wyteria), and Nikki Taylor; eight grandchildren: Kadeem Williams, Kenya Williams, Micquavius Williams, Wyteria Henley, Jr., Breyonna Henley, Kosey Henley, Ikeria Dennis and Idarius Dennis; one devoted sister: Deborah Elaine Bryant (Terrell); three loving brothers: Anthony Hambrick (Violet), Elder Darrow G. Hambrick (Jamie) and Phillip Hambrick (Kathryn); two sisters-in-law: Patricia Simmons and Kathy Williams; two brothers-in-law: Zellner Williams and Rickey Williams (Aretha); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Family is like a quilt that has different pieces and patterns; Wynonia was the thread that held those pieces together. On a regular basis, Walt and Wynonia were inviting multitudes over for southern cooking, bar-b-que, golden fried fish, card games and horse shoes. It didn’t matter if you were a part of the family or not, everyone was welcomed in the Williams’ home and just about everyone experienced their hospitality. Her smile was infectious, her spirit was giving and her disposition was calm and pleasing. She was a person that was capable of breathing life into others by words of encouragement and inspiration. If she could encourage you today, she would encourage you to take her same love for people and the joy she spread to others, then envelop it around your spirit and pass it on to others.

June 18, 1955 - November 12, 2016
