Saint Clara Duffey Johnson

Saint Clara Johnson was the oldest of sixteen children born to the late Raymond and Annie Mae Duffey. She was born on September 18, 1928 in Henry County, Georgia. She was a God fearing woman that devoted her life to the Lord. Clara became a member of Antioch Baptist Church at an early age, and was also a member of the Mother Board until her health prevented her from continuing her service. She married Johnnie Lee Johnson, Sr. at the age of nineteen and they had ten children together. Her interests included sewing, gardening, baking, cooking and listening to gospel music and church services on television. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her grandchildren that she loved dearly. Clara peacefully departed this life at 8:15 p.m. on January 29, 2015 at her home in Decatur, GA where she had resided for over twenty years. She was surrounded by a multitude of family members who loved and cared for her deeply during her last precious moments of life. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend to many people, and unconditional love that she spread throughout the countless lives that she touched will never be forgotten. The memory of her beautiful heart, contagious smile and vibrant personality will live on forevermore. Clara was survived by her husband, Johnnie Lee Johnson of McDonough, GA as well as her ten children, Johnny L. Johnson, Jr. of McDonough, GA, Mary Logan (Leslie) of Alpharetta, GA, James P. Johnson of McDonough, GA, Glenda M. Davis (James) of Lithonia, GA, Ralph E. Johnson of Decatur, GA, Dennis L. Johnson of Forest Park, GA, Kathleen Smith (Sidney) of Stone Mountain, GA, Jacqueline Miller (David) of Stone Mountain, GA, Franklin E. Johnson (Lula) of Ardmore, OK and Queen E. Reese (William) of Decatur, GA. Clara was also survived by her three brothers, Dan Duffey of Jackson, GA, Eddie and Lewis Duffey of Harrisburg, PA; three sisters, Dorothy Moore of McDonough, GA , Wanda Allen of Jackson, GA and Shirley Thompson of Harrisburg, PA. She also has thirty-two grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
