Patricia Jester

Affectionately known as “PJ”, Patricia Jester was the youngest of ten children born to the union of the late Reverend John Bishop and Rachel (Virden) Jester on November 24, 1957 in Stockbridge, GA. The majority of her education was in the Henry County Public School System, and she graduated from Columbia High School in Decatur, GA. in 1975. She went on to attend Albany State University in Albany, GA, and graduated in 1980 with a B.A. degree in History. While there she was initiated as member of the Delta Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated in 1978, and served as Ms. Delta Rho in 1980. After college, she was employed in the retail and banking industry where she held various managerial positions. Patricia accepted Christ at an early age and joined Unity Grove Baptist Church in Locust Grove, GA, under the leadership of the late Reverend C.L. Walker. She later joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jerry D. Black. While at Beulah she was apart of Bible Class No. 2 of Sunday School, and a member of the Glenda J. Black Cancer Support Group, where she served as a faithful member until her death. Patricia made her transition on June 30, 2014 at 12:35pm. Known to walk into a room and announce “PJ is here!”, Patricia was vibrant, outgoing and was rarely ever seen without a big smile. A constant confidant, caregiver and friend, PJ was the shining light that brought people together; she always had her arms extended to give away a hug. Patricia never met a stranger and truly had a kind and loving spirit. She enjoyed keeping the family connected and loved to take pictures with family and friends. Patricia also enjoyed travelling and taking cruises whenever she could. Patricia leaves to cherish her precious memory, three loving and devoted sisters, Lillie Crafton of Albany GA., (Joseph), Naomi Colbert, and Charlotte Jones, both of Conley, GA.; one brother, Early J. Jester (Delphea) of Austin, TX.; two step-sisters and two step-brothers, Barbara Andrews (Raford), Sandra Jinks, Sims Jinks, and Henry McWell, all of Decatur, GA.; three sister-in laws, Marie Jester of McDonough, GA., Mae Francis Jester, and Josie Jester, both of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Virden, Robert, Roosevelt, Ralph, Bishop, and Samuel; and one sister, Ocie. She also leaves to cherish her loving memory, one uncle and one aunt, Reverend Eddie J. Jester of Atlanta, GA, and Emma Lou Hightower of Cleveland OH; three devoted friends, Patricia Thomas ,Cynthia Hibler, and Barbara Thomas; one special friend, Ron Bell; one God daughter, Taylor Hibler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
