Loraine Simmonds

Mrs. Loraine Elvira Simmonds (Seaton) was born in St. Kitts, West Indies on November 27, 1920 to the late Maude Simmonds and Richard E. Jack. She peacefully entered into eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. An active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in St. Thomas, USVI Loraine taught Sunday school for several years. In addition, she served faithfully in the Women's Ministry. She loved visiting and caring for the sick and shut-in; it gave her great joy to prepare and deliver delicious meals to them. During her leisure, she enjoyed reading, baking, cooking and talking with friends. Other than Loraine's love and relationship with God, her family was the next most important. She enjoyed traveling and spent much of her time in the United States and abroad visiting her children, grandchildren, and many beloved friends. In 2003, due to health challenges, Loraine relocated to Rex, Georgia to live with her oldest daughter, Rosalind Jacobs. It was during that time that Loraine joined The Body of Christ Church International, USA, where she was a faithful and dedicated member. Loraine was a "Proverbs 31" woman: a woman of God, prayer, faith and love. We knew her as mom, Big Granny, Grandma, Godmother, sister, and friend and one who loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was no stranger to hard work and sacrifice, always living a principle centered life. She shared her Lord and Savior with anyone she met and made no apology for it. Always on the go, Loraine loved life and living it to the fullest. Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, William Seaton; brothers: Arthur Rhymer and Obadiah Pedreaux; sister, Kathleen Jack; grandson Jelani Simmonds and great grandsons Kevon and Keith Hodge. She leaves to cherish her memory, 6 children: Rosalind Jacobs, Rex, GA; Linlloyd (Vanderlyn) Simmonds, Newport News, VA; Yvette Simmonds, Brooklyn, NY; Gwenneth Simmonds, Columbia, SC; Franklyn (Caroline) Simmonds, Tampa FL; Geoffrey (Judith) Simmonds, Sugarland, TX. 19 grandchildren: Eloencia C.(lsaac) Jones; Emelindo (Cindy) Jacobs, Jr.; Maria (Kyle) Bruner; Lemuel and Michael Jacobs; Donna Hodge, Dianne Mills, Charmaine Simmonds, Matthew (Alma) Simmonds, Vanessa (Clinton) Jackson, Jr., Lynette Simmonds, Halvor, Abayomi and Tedvon Simmonds; Jason Hamlin; Jamilla, Jamal, Alfred and Emmanuel Simmonds; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
