Lon O. Ross

Born to Lillie Mae Mangham-Ross and Oscar "BabyBoy" Ross, Lonnie was a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him. Lonnie, beloved husband of Della Coleman, was united in marriage on March 12, 1983, in Jonesboro, GA. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. As a devoted father to his three sons—Frederick of Bessemer, AL; Arvelt of St. Augustine, FL; and Melvin of Los Angeles, CA—he instilled in them the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of family. Lonnie was proud to be part of his family, leaving behind one brother, Ray Ross, and one sister, Evelyn Marshall (Robert). He was preceded in death by his brothers Tommy Lee Ross, Johnny Lee Ross, and David Ross, and is lovingly remembered by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Wanda Ross, and Geraldine Ross, who will carry his spirit in their hearts. As a dedicated grandparent, Lonnie's pride in his family extended to his 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each holding a special place in his heart and bringing joy to his life. A true lover of nature, Lonnie found peace and joy in the great outdoors, often seeking solace and inspiration in its beauty. His creativity knew no bounds, allowing him to craft and create in ways that delighted those around him. His keen intellect enabled him to solve problems and lend a helping hand, making him a trusted confidant and friend. A passionate lover of fishing, Lonnie enjoyed the tranquility it offered, finding joy in the simple moments spent by the water. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family, where he found true happiness and contentment. Lonnie Oscar Ross will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, creativity, and connection to nature will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In this time of sorrow, let us remember the beautiful moments shared and the love he imparted, for his spirit will forever remain with us. Rest in peace, dear Lonnie.
