Rev. Henry Robert Wright Jr.

The Man Born in Henry County, Georgia. Pastor Henry Robert Wright, Jr. (Preacher) took his first breath on Wednesday, May 1, 1929. He brought great joy to his parents the late Henry Wright, Sr. and Jehosheba Jones Wright. Raised in a loving and God fearing home by his mother and father. He spent his childhood playing, laughing, and joking with his childhood cousin Robert (R.C.) Jones and friend Robert Lewis Brown (Decd). He attended school at Henry County Training School and continued his education at Griffin Tech. The Glory On Sunday, April 16, 2017 while resting in his bed, Henry blinked his eyes as a gesture of “good-bye” to this world and “hello” to his eternal home. Embraced with the love he had spent his adult life sharing so passionately with family and others, he was welcomed home. The Servant This man of God started out on his Christian journey early in life. He was set out to do the will of his Lord and Savior. Pastor Henry Robert Wright, Jr. was baptized at the Cleveland Chapel Methodist Church as a young child. He later became a member of the Wardell United Methodist Church, being monitored by his father Henry, Sr. to do God will without wavering and then to Macedonia Baptist Church in Riverdale, Georgia. After serving as a deacon for many years he was called to the ministry but didn’t want to believe the calling on his life. But surrendering his life and the call by the Almighty God, in 1971 Henry was licensed as a minister of the Gospel, he provided Christian advice to couples preparing for marriage, provided service to a countless number of children, or those simply seeking understanding of God’s Word. He welcomed and was grateful for the opportunity to stand before the congregation to share the Word of God. Our dad believed EVERY word written in the Bible and was committed to sharing it with others. Pastor Wright loved to minister and testify about the goodness of the Lord! It only took ONE scripture to get him started and once he got started there was no limit to how long he could go. The question then became “How much time do you have”? He went on to Co-Pastor the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia from 1971-1975. Thereafter he became Pastor of the Liberty Spring Baptist Church in Griffin, Ga for number of years. But, in 1976, while pastoring at both churches, Pastor Wright was lead to Mt. Pleasant to become the senior pastor. Preaching and teaching God’s word for over thirty years. Through Pastor Wright leadership and direction Mt. Pleasant has grown physically and spiritually. After retiring in 2005, he passed the torch to Pastor James Smith of Barnesville, Georgia. Henry worked for Delta Airlines, Inc. for thirty-one years. He begin this journey on May 26, 1960 and retired on June 1, 1991. He received many honorary certificates from Delta Airlines. He prayed for the success of Delta as will as his co-workers. Keeping Delta’s jets new, bright, and shining, he worked alone side Willie Cloud (neighbor) and R. C. Godfrey. The Legacy Pastor Henry Robert Wright, Jr. was married the late Lillie Mae Wright (Decd., 2004). This mighty man of valor left a legacy of love, faith, and hope to his family, his church, and the community at large. He will be greatly missed by his proud children. Mr. & Mrs. Henry Calvin Wright (Clara), Mrs. Betty Huger (Reggie Decd. 2003), Miss. Florine Wright, Miss. Deanna Wright, Miss Erica S. Wright, and Valerie Wright (Decd., 1998). His adopted children Ms. Frances Reeves, Mrs. Catherine Phillips, and Mrs. Mary Thompson. His dear friends Mr. and Mrs. Williams Adams (Margie) and Ms. B. Belt. Grandchildren – Brent Wright, Emmanuel Wright, Javis Wright, Quavious Wright, Ensa Huger, Theo Huger, Andre Wyche, Ian Wright, Dadrian Usher and Ivy Ammons. Great Grandchildren –Jaden, Desiree, Oliver, Brent Davis, Nathan, Rose, Adrianna, Austin, Aniyah, Elestae, and Baby Kylan to be born on August 16, 2017.
