Gloria Dabney Banks

Gloria D. Banks, 75, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born on March 14, 1951, to the late Johnny Dean and Lillian Battle Dabney. She was raised in Stockbridge, Georgia, where she developed a strong sense of family, faith, and community that remained with her throughout her life. Gloria joined Trinity United Methodist Church at an early age, where she was an active member. She served with the youth fellowship, attended Sunday School, and sang in the Young Adult Choir. She later joined Zion Grove Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted and active member. There, she sang in the Mass Choir and served faithfully as the Women’s Ministry Secretary with commitment and grace. Gloria was known for her servant’s heart and her willingness to serve in any capacity she was asked. She attended the Henry County School System, graduating from Stockbridge High School with the Class of 1969. She went on to further her education at Clayton State University (formerly Clayton Jr. College) and later built a long and respected career with the federal government, retiring after more than 35 years of service. After retirement, Gloria continued her passion for working with children by serving as a volunteer at Creekside Christian Academy. Her dedication led her to later become the Extended Education Assistant Director. Gloria’s love for children was evident in all she did. She cherished her time at Creekside Christian Academy and remained committed to her calling, even on days when she did not feel well. She was known for her warm spirit and generous heart that touched everyone she met. Gloria was known for her integrity, dedication, and willingness to help others—never hesitating to lend a hand to friends, neighbors, or even strangers. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with her family, shopping, reading, and relaxing with her favorite Bravo and TLC shows while staying connected through Instagram. Gloria was united in marriage to Clarence Banks Sr., and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for their two children, Clarence Jr. and Hyacinth. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, and a cherished grandmother who found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and attending their events. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Clarence Jr. (Jody), and her loving and devoted daughter, Hyacinth Solomon (Allyn Jr.); her grandchildren, Morgan Solomon, Clarence Banks III, Meagan Solomon, Skaii Banks, Matthew Solomon, and Yani Banks; her very special Aunt Nancy Battle Bryant; and her Aunt Rosa B. Knox, who was not only family but also a dear and trusted friend, along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Banks Sr.; her parents, Johnny and Lillian Dabney; and her brothers, John Allen Dabney and John Dean Evans, all of whom she held dear in her heart. Gloria’s legacy of love, kindness, faith, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
