Douglas L. Geiger Jr.

Douglas L. Geiger Jr was born on July 10, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia. Raised in College Park and Clayton County, Georgia, Douglas lived a life marked by curiosity, compassion, faith, family, and a deep love of learning. Music became part of Douglas’s life at a young age. He began playing the drums at his church at just 3 years old. He enjoyed playing basketball and football and played the snare drum for his school’s marching band. He also found enjoyment in Jiu-Jitsu, swimming, hiking, jogging, and yoga. Of all his accomplishments and experiences, however, nothing brought Douglas greater pride than becoming a father to his beautiful daughter, Danielle. Fatherhood was a part of Douglas’s life that he carried with tremendous love and pride. With their birthdays only four days apart, the two shared a particularly special connection. Some of Douglas’s most meaningful moments were also some of life’s simplest; going to the park, taking road trips, spending time with those he loved, and having long conversations with friends. Douglas possessed a compassionate spirit and a genuine concern for other living beings. His love for animals ultimately inspired him to become a vegetarian. Always eager to learn, Douglas developed passionate interests in mathematics, philosophy, and a myriad of other academic subjects. Mathematics, in particular, held a special place in his heart. He saw beauty in the world of mathematics and devoted much of his academic life to understanding it more deeply. Douglas earned double bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy from Clayton State University and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Georgia State University. He continued his education at the University of Georgia, pursuing advanced work in philosophy and probability theory. At the time of his passing, Douglas was just one semester away from completing his dissertation. His years at UGA also gave him another tradition he loved: cheering on the Dawgs every football season. Douglas was a Buddhist, and his spiritual life reflected his desire to understand the mind, cultivate compassion, and search deeply for meaning. In October 2025, Douglas married Anna “Nan” Usher in Dahlonega, Georgia. Their marriage became another cherished chapter in a life centered on love, family, growth, and connection. Douglas will be remembered not simply for the degrees he earned or the subjects he studied, but for the many dimensions of the person he was: a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a musician, an athlete, a thinker, and a lifelong student of the world around him. He loved deeply, questioned deeply, and never stopped wanting to learn. Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Anna; his beloved daughter, Danielle, age 10; his bonus son, Johnathon, age 6; his brother, Deon Timothy; his sister, Tiara; his parents, Douglas L. Geiger Sr., MD, and Dionne Geiger; his grandmother; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Though Douglas’s life ended far too soon, the love he gave, the knowledge he pursued, the conversations he shared, and the memories he created remain with those who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing, and may he be at peace.
