Ashanti L. Stillwell

Ashanti Lillian Stillwell entered this world on July 15, 2000, and left us all too soon on June 11, 2023. While we grieve the loss of such a bright light, we take solace in the memories and love she shared during her all-too-brief time with us. From an early age in school, it was clear that she was a brilliant child, quickly getting accepted into the gifted program. Ashanti was the “A” student all the way through high school into college. She was an extraordinary individual whose presence filled every room she entered. Her warm smile, contagious laughter, and compassionate heart left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She approached life with an infectious enthusiasm and a zest for adventure that inspired those around her. Entering her teenage years, she continued to involve herself in many experiences. At her home of worship, Shiloh Baptist Church, she was baptized at age 9. Throughout her childhood she remained a pivotal youth figure and a role model for the younger generation. In her short but remarkable journey, Ashanti had an unwavering commitment to her education. She pursued her academic passions at Valdosta State University with diligence and was known for her exceptional intellect and thirst for knowledge. Her determination and drive served as an inspiration to her peers and teachers alike. She had dreams and aspirations to become an Obstetrician Doctor to provide care and love to others of this world. Ashanti’s personality and academic scholar was one that shone brightly, and we mourn the potential and brilliance that will never fully be realized. Ashanti’s infectious smile and personality displayed her love of life. To know her was to love her and appreciate the value she added to you when you had an encounter with her. She never failed to show her fun personality, as well as the things she loved. Traveling, reading, Tic-Toc’s, music, and her craft with nails were a few things she enjoyed. She enjoyed hanging out with her siblings and being an aunt to her two nieces. Ashanti’s family, friends, classmates and colleagues were truly her joy. Ashanti brightened up any room and had a positive impact on many people throughout her entire life. As we bid farewell to Ashanti, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and the love she freely gave. Though her time on Earth was brief, her impact was immeasurable. In the wake of this devastating loss, let us honor her memory by embracing her spirit of compassion, curiosity, and fearlessness. Ashanti leaves behind a void that can never be filled in the hearts of her grieving family and friends. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones during this challenging time. May we find solace in our shared memories and find strength in one another as we navigate the difficult days ahead. She is preceded in death by her Mother Corvette Gardner, Grandfather Herman Stillwell, Uncle Anthony Stillwell. She is survived by Father Roderick Stillwell (Monica Gambrell), Stepmother, Ebony “Kristy” Neal (Joseph Neal), Great Grandmother Ruby Smith, Grandparents Ollie Mae Stillwell, Annie Smith, and Deborah Chambers. Siblings Nicole Gardner (Xavier Hooks), Roderick Stillwell Jr, Orion “Deron” Coleman, Terry Ridyolph Jr, Skye Joseph, Paris Stillwell, Brooklyn Stillwell, Sharod Scott and Ava Stillwell. Nieces and Nephew Ayanna Strong, Nyla Hooks (Nicole and Xavier) and Karter Chaney (Skye). Ashanti also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Whenever we step outside and feel the sunshine touch our face, we will feel her presence around us.
