Anthony "Moon" Walden

Anthony “Moon” Walden was born on June 24th, 1955 to Eula Mae Jackson and Daniel (Dave) Walden in Manattan, New York. He is the fifth child of eleven. Anthony was given the nickname “Moon” at an early age by one of his teachers and almost everybody called him by that name. Moon was a dedicated employee of The Owl Tavern, and found his niche as a bill poster with Foster and Kleiser (Lamar Advertisement) until he retired. Anyone who walked through his door and had the pleasure to know him, was touched by his loving heart, warm smile, playful attitude and demand for respect. Moon was great to be around, did not take any junk, was a pleasure to spend time with and was always, always on time. He was up for work before daylight and home from work before most of our days began. Moon loved the O’Jays and music in general, sports (Mets), good food, comedy, cowboy & black & white movies (Turner Classic), collecting valuables & memorabilia, and most of all family. Moon moved from New York to Georgia in 2008 to relax and recover from Crohn's disease and to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. We could always depend on Moon. He was recently baptized in 2010 by Overseer Shirley Johnson (Back to Basics Outreach Ministries-Riverdale, GA) accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. On Sunday January 12th, 2014 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA Moon made his transition to be with the Lord. One could go on and on with stories about Moon and what he means to each one of us individually, but his place with us remains in our memories. God has called his faithful son home to rest, without pain, in the presence of HIS glorious light. Just knowing that Moon is waiting for us in Heaven, when our time comes, is a comfort. Moon is survived by his loving & dedicated wife, Francine Jolly Walden; eight siblings: Edward “Chico” (Jannie) Jackson (NY), Brenda (James) Jackson (NY), Jerome (Alicia) Jackson (FL) and Andre (Jennifer) Jackson (FL); Erica Barr (NY), Markeem Jackson (NY), Clarence Jackson (NY), and Princess Jackson (NY); Five children: Stephanie W. (Kenyatta) Fleming, David (Harolyn) Walden, Jamal James, Jameel James and Jamilah Jolly; 12 Grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, In-laws, Ex-laws, Friends and Neighbors. To know him was to love him. We love you Moon and there is no doubt that you will be missed. Until we meet again…Rest in peace.
